Incident Goal

NO SHORTCUT IS
WORTH THE RISK.

At Wyoming Machinery, safety is not a program — it is the first of our five core values and the foundation of everything we do. We serve mining, construction, and oil & gas operations where heavy equipment, high-voltage systems, and challenging terrain create real hazards every day.

Our approach is simple: no task is so important and no deadline so urgent that we cannot take the time to do it safely. This philosophy has earned us the State of Wyoming Governor’s Safety Award for Large Employers twice — in 2014 and again in 2019 — recognizing our commitment to providing a safe environment for our employees and the customers we serve.

We embed safety into our culture through continuous training, rigorous inspection protocols, thorough incident investigation, and a company-wide expectation that every person has the authority — and the obligation — to stop work if something isn’t safe.

HOW WE KEEP
PEOPLE SAFE.

01

Regular Safety Training

Every employee completes ongoing safety training including MSHA certification, OSHA compliance, first aid/CPR, and equipment-specific hazard awareness. Training records are maintained and audited to ensure 100% compliance.

02

Personal Protective Equipment

Hard hats, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high-visibility vests, and task-specific PPE are required and provided for all shop and field personnel. No exceptions.

03

Job Site Assessments

Before any field service work begins, technicians perform a documented job site hazard assessment. Underground utilities, overhead power lines, ground conditions, traffic patterns, and weather are evaluated and mitigated.

04

Equipment Inspection Protocols

Every machine that enters our shops undergoes a standardized safety inspection. Lock-out/tag-out procedures are strictly enforced during all service and repair work. Technicians are trained to identify and report safety deficiencies.

05

Incident Reporting & Investigation

All incidents, near-misses, and safety observations are reported and investigated. Root cause analysis drives corrective action so the same hazard is eliminated — not just managed.

06

Safety Committee

An active safety committee with representatives from every branch and department meets regularly to review safety performance, address concerns, and drive continuous improvement across the organization.

SAFER BY
DESIGN.

Cat machines are engineered with operator safety as a design priority. Here are the key safety features built into the equipment we sell and service.

ROPS/FOPS Structures

Rollover Protective Structures and Falling Object Protective Structures are standard on Cat machines, providing a reinforced safety cage that meets international standards for operator protection in rollovers and falling debris.

Rear-View Cameras

Integrated rear-view and surround-view camera systems give operators clear visibility of blind spots, reducing the risk of collisions with personnel, vehicles, and obstacles behind the machine.

Proximity Detection

Cat MineStar and Detect technology uses radar-based proximity awareness to alert operators when personnel or vehicles enter the machine's working zone, providing an additional layer of protection on busy job sites.

Controlled Shutdown

Advanced engine and hydraulic monitoring systems detect abnormal conditions — low oil pressure, high coolant temperature, excessive exhaust temperature — and initiate controlled shutdown to prevent damage and protect the operator.

Ergonomic Cab Design

Cat cabs are designed to reduce operator fatigue with climate control, low-noise insulation, adjustable controls, and seats with integrated suspension. A comfortable operator is an alert operator.

Ground-Level Service Points

Routine service and maintenance access points are designed to be reached from ground level, eliminating the need for technicians to climb on machines for daily checks and fluid top-offs.

YOUR SAFETY
IS OUR BUSINESS.

We extend our safety commitment beyond our own operations. These resources help your team operate equipment safely and build a stronger safety culture.

01

Operator Training

We offer hands-on operator training for new Cat equipment, covering safe operating procedures, daily pre-start inspections, and machine-specific safety features. Available at purchase or anytime for your operators.

02

Safety Walk-Arounds

Our technicians can perform a safety walk-around of your equipment, identifying worn components, disabled safety systems, missing guards, and other items that may pose a risk to your operators.

03

Machine Inspection Checklists

We provide daily pre-operation inspection checklists customized to your specific machines. Consistent daily checks catch problems early and establish a culture of safety awareness among operators.

04

Site Safety Consultations

Our team can assess your work site and make recommendations for safe machine operation, traffic management, ground conditions, and equipment staging — especially for mining and heavy construction operations.
