Wyoming Rents

RENTAL PURCHASE OPTION

Start with a rental. If the machine is right for your operation, apply your rental payments toward the purchase price. It's the lowest-risk way to add Cat equipment to your fleet.

What Is the Rental Purchase Option?

The Rental Purchase Option (RPO) from Wyoming Rents lets you rent Cat equipment with the flexibility to buy it later. If you decide the machine is right for your operation, a portion of your rental payments is credited toward the purchase price — reducing your total cost of ownership.

RPO is ideal for contractors, ranchers, and operators who want to evaluate equipment in real working conditions before making a capital investment. There's no obligation to buy — if the machine doesn't fit your needs, simply return it at the end of your rental term.

Whether you're expanding your fleet for a new project, replacing an aging machine, or testing a different model size, RPO gives you the confidence to make the right decision without the risk of a blind purchase.

Benefits of Rental Purchase

RPO combines the flexibility of renting with the long-term value of ownership.

Try Before You Buy

Put the machine to work on your actual job site before committing to a purchase. Know exactly how it performs in your conditions.

Flexible Terms

No pressure to decide immediately. Rent for as long as you need, and convert to purchase when you're ready.

Apply Rental Credits

A portion of your rental payments is credited toward the purchase price, reducing your total cost of ownership.

Keep the Machine You Know

Your operators already know the machine. No new training, no surprises — it's the same unit they've been running.

Tax Advantages

Rental payments are typically deductible as operating expenses. Consult your accountant to see how RPO benefits your tax situation.

No Long-Term Commitment Upfront

Start with a rental agreement. If the project changes or the machine isn't right, return it with no purchase obligation.

How Rental Purchase Works

Four straightforward steps from rental to ownership.

1

Rent the Equipment

Choose from our full lineup of Cat rental equipment. We'll set up a standard rental agreement with daily, weekly, or monthly rates. The machine goes to work on your site immediately.

2

Evaluate on Your Job

Run the machine in your real-world conditions. See how it handles your terrain, material, and production requirements. Your operators get familiar with the controls and capabilities.

3

Decide to Purchase

When you're confident the machine is right for your operation, tell your Wyoming Rents representative you want to exercise the purchase option. No pressure — take the time you need.

4

Rental Payments Credited

A portion of your accumulated rental payments is applied toward the purchase price. We'll provide the exact credit amount and remaining balance. Cat Financial and other financing options are available for the balance.

WHO USES RENTAL PURCHASE?

Contractors

Test a machine on a specific project before committing. If the job requires a D6 but you're not sure about the long-term need, RPO lets you rent it now and buy it if more work comes in.

Ranchers & Landowners

Evaluate compact equipment for your property before buying. Run a skid steer or mini excavator through a full season and decide if ownership makes sense for your operation.

Growing Businesses

Scale your fleet without overextending your capital. Start with a rental, and as revenue from the machine proves out, convert to ownership with rental credits applied.

Municipal & Government

Budget cycles don't always align with equipment needs. RPO lets you get the machine working now and process the purchase when funding is available.

Oil & Gas Operators

Match equipment decisions to commodity prices. Rent during uncertainty and convert to purchase when production justifies the capital investment.

First-Time Buyers

Not sure which model is right? RPO eliminates buyer's remorse. Rent multiple machines if needed until you find the perfect fit for your application.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Wyoming Rents Rental Purchase Option.

How much of my rental applies to the purchase price?

The percentage of rental payments credited toward purchase varies by equipment type, rental duration, and current program terms. Typically, a significant portion of your rental payments can be applied. Contact our rental team for specific credit percentages on the equipment you're interested in.

What equipment qualifies for the Rental Purchase Option?

Most Cat equipment in our rental fleet qualifies for RPO, including dozers, excavators, wheel loaders, compact track loaders, skid steers, mini excavators, generators, and more. Specialty attachments and certain short-term rental units may have different terms. Ask your Wyoming Rents representative for details.

How long do I have to decide whether to purchase?

RPO terms are flexible. You can make the decision to purchase at various points during your rental period. The sooner you decide, the more rental credit you accumulate toward the purchase price. We'll work with you to find a timeline that matches your project and budget.

Can I finance the remaining balance after applying rental credits?

Yes. Wyoming Machinery offers Cat Financial and other financing options to cover the remaining balance after rental credits are applied. We can structure payments that work for your business, including seasonal payment plans for industries with variable cash flow.

Is the equipment new or used?

RPO is available on both new and used Cat equipment in our rental fleet. All machines are maintained by factory-trained Cat technicians to the same standards, regardless of age. You'll know exactly what you're buying because you've been running it on your job.

What happens if I decide not to purchase?

No obligation. If you decide the machine isn't right for your operation, simply return it at the end of your rental period. You only pay the standard rental rate — there's no penalty for choosing not to buy.
